Rushen Abbey
+ My Favorites
Founded by the Monks of the Sauvignac Order from Furness Abbey in Cumbria who followed strict Benedictine rules, this abbey church was completed in 1257. It flourished for many years, but suffered during World War Two. It became a Manx National Heritage Site in 1998. Visitors can watch live digs, see exhibits, learn about the lives of the monks and tour the gardens. Children have a special interactive area where they can take on the role of a monk, excavate and more. Bring refreshments.
